LUCAS COUNTY - Plant Maintenance Coordinator I: Under the general direction of the Plant Manager, oversees and performs maintenance functions to plant equipment, buildings and structures prepares, distributes, and provides direction of  work assignments to the Maintenance Specialists and Laborers;  performs  maintenance, preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of plant equipment; provides training  to the Maintenance Specialists and Laborers (as needed); compiles, records, and files all gas, diesel fuel and sewer meter readings; orders spare parts, building maintenance supplies, and fuel.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  High school graduate or equivalent; valid Class II Wastewater Operator License and Two (2) years experience in maintenance to include; corrective maintenance, alignment of pumps, blowers and equipment, all types of piping repairs and plumbing (steel threaded and welded, PVC), cutting of metals and vehicle repair; valid drivers license or valid driving privileges in the State of Ohio; valid  Commercial Drivers License (CDL) - Class B or ability to obtain within 6 months;  Salary: $20.77/hr ($43, 201.60 annually).  A Class II Operator license also yields an additional 2% in pay and a Class III an additional 3% in pay.  Excellent benefits

The Division of Water’s Distribution and Maintenance Section is currently identifying potential applicants for an upcoming position: Chief of Distribution in the Field Operations section. This individual will assume an important responsibility in managing one or more major facets of the Division of Water’s Distribution System. Major facets include, but are not limited to pipe repair, meter repair, hydraulics, inspections, trades and dispatch operations. This position offers the opportunity to expand on your technical experience to complete complex task.

The Cleveland Division of Water is a municipal water utility operating under the City of Cleveland’s Department of Public Utilities. With a 640-square-mile service area that encompasses more than 1.5 million people throughout the City of Cleveland and 72 neighboring suburbs, the Division of Water is the largest water system in Ohio and among the ten largest in the United States.

The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public and private officials, contractors, customers, peers, and subordinates.  Use your business acumen to plan, develop and implement strategies, programs, policies, and procedures relating to area of responsibility.

Typical Task:

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

        Overseeing the development of cost-effective preventative maintenance, inspection and rehabilitation plans, production schedules and related work, methods, policies and procedures.

        Investigating consumer complaints concerning water maintenance operations.
l
        Establishing and documenting standard operating procedures.

        Evaluating and establishing efficient inventory control systems.
l
        Preparing budget estimates and making recommendations in conjunction with the annual budget process.

        Meeting with representatives of various suppliers for the purpose of evaluating products and services.

        Coordinating utility maintenance activities with external public works agencies and projects as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
·         A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business/Public Administration or related field from an accredited college or university is required. 
·
         Must possess a valid Ohio EPA License to operate a Class II Water Distribution system or obtain such license within 24 months of placement in classification.
·
         A valid State of Ohio Driver’s License is required. 
·
         Must have the ability to: Must have experience with computerized systems (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook; work management systems, commonly-used engineering software applications, etc.).
·
         Seven (7) years of full-time paid experience progressively responsible experience in the management or supervision in a water system organization is required, two (2) years of which must be supervisory in nature. 
·
         Practical knowledge of the operations and maintenance of a water distribution system, including associated facilities and equipment, maintenance and repair processes, procedures, materials, equipment, and technologies. 
·
         Ability to evaluate system maintenance priorities and recommend long-term maintenance plans is required. 
·
         Must have experience in the identification, analysis, and resolution of field maintenance problems.

PREFERENCES

·         Preferences:  An OEPA Class III Water Supply License or better; Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business/Public Administration or related field; contract administration experience.    SUBSTITUTION:  One (1) year of relevant experience may substitute for each year of college education lacking.

The Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) is seeking a talented and motivated individual to fill a Computer Systems Analyst position. MSD is in the process of implementing PeopleSoft’s Enterprise Financial Management, Enterprise Performance Management and Supply Chain Management modules, essential to support the management of MSD’s Wet Weather Improvement Program (WWIP).  These modules will need to be tightly integrated with the Cincinnati Financial Systems (CFS) and with MSD’s scheduling and project management system, Primavera.  Ultimately, integration will be performed with the Department’s work order system, leading to a comprehensive Business Intelligence system.  Asset Management, Activity Based Budgeting and Activity Based Costing are major goals in the MSD’s business strategy. Future work may include integration with the Cincinnati Human Resource Information System (CHRIS), the Department’s GIS system and time keeping systems.

This position will be responsible for integration solutions between MSD’s  business systems and for developing/leading the development of custom application that cannot be fulfilled by off-the-shelf software.  Responsibilities include identifying the data, application and infrastructure requirements, developing detailed design specifications and work plans, designing interface across multiple platforms, and creating necessary documentation.  This individual must be a self-starter, work well in a team environment, and be able to demonstrate the following:

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, environmental science, public administration or closely related field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience, and a minimum of five years of managerial experience in various public works operations.  Ohio EPA licensed personnel, possessing a minimum of a Class II Water Distribution license or Class II Wastewater Collection license or the ability to obtain licensure within three years.    The position requires a person with strong, visionary and innovative management and leadership skills and dedication to the City.  The position requires outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and thorough knowledge of technology and trends related to a variety of public works operations.

The City of London, Ohio is seeking applications for the position of Wastewater Plant Operator.  This employee works under the direct supervision of the Director of Wastewater Treatment.  The successful candidate will aid the Director in the operations of the wastewater treatment plant and the sewer collections system. 

Duties of this position require basic knowledge of a variety of biological, chemical, and mechanical processes.  The applicant must possess basic knowledge of wastewater activated sludge and anaerobic digestion processes and related equipment operations.  Work involves responsibility for the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and recording of the activities involved in the operation of the wastewater process, laboratory, and collections system operations.  The normal workweek is Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.  This employee must take their turn in working the weekends on a set rotation.

The pay for this position is set forth in the Union Agreement.  The range is between $15.94 and $19.41 per hour depending on qualifications.  The successful candidate must now or be secured within twenty-four (24) months of hire a Minimum of an Ohio EPA Class I Wastewater Operators Certification. Job Description:  The job is primarily day-shift work, and includes some weekends and holidays.  Overtime work may be required. The plant operator is responsible for daily hands-on operation of the treatment plant.  Duties include sampling, basic lab tests, chemical feed adjustment, computer entry and record keeping, cleaning tanks and equipment, adjusting valves, gates and other manual duties.  The operator must work in all kinds of weather and be in good physical condition. 

Experience:     The successful applicant will already have wastewater plant experience.  Activated sludge, tertiary filtration, aerobic digestion, lab and computer skills are a plus. 

Benefits:          This is an hourly-wage union job, which includes health care and life insurance benefits.  There is a sixty (60) workday probationary period.

Starting wage is $19.58.
