BACKGROUND

The Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) Chapter 3701-29 (STS Rules) effective January 1, 2007, requires that sewage treatment system installers, service providers and septage haulers that register with a local health district to perform work required under this chapter take a state examination.

The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) is the state agency responsible for the implementation of the sewage treatment system rules and the development of the state exam for registered sewage treatment system installers, service providers and septage haulers.

Any STS installer, service provider, and septage hauler that operates in the state of Ohio, MUST pass the state exam as part of the local registration requirements to continue operating after January 1, 2007.
